Christian Doeller is Director of the Department of Psychology at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig, Germany and is affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway (doellerlab.com).
He received his undergraduate training in psychology and computer science at several German Universities (Würzburg, Humboldt University Berlin and Bonn), including research and clinical traineeships at Max-Planck Institutes in Munich and Leipzig and at the Department of Epileptology at University Hospital Bonn.
After finishing his PhD with Axel Mecklinger in Saarbrücken in 2005, he worked as a Research Fellow with Neil Burgess at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London, UK. In 2010, he was appointed as Principal Investigator and Associate Professor at the Donders Institute at Radboud University, Nijmegen, the Netherlands.
In 2016, he became Director of the Braathen-Kavli Centre at the Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience and Professor of Medicine & Neuroscience at NTNU in Trondheim. He made key discoveries in cognitive neuroscience, reflected in numerous papers in the top scientific journals, such as Nature, Science and Nature Neuroscience and received several competitive fellowships and prizes (e.g. two-time ERC recipient: ERC Starting Grant, ERC Consolidator Grant; NWO-Vidi award).
