
Speaker S2: Improving and facilitating synergies between Horizon Europe and ESIF
Manuel Gómez Herrero is Policy Officer in the unit C2 “Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions” (MSCA) of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) of the European Commission. There he is in charge of the MSCA COFUND action, the Horizon 2020 Advisory Group for the MSCA and Open Science in MSCA.
Before joining the MSCA Unit of DG EAC in December 2018, Manuel worked for five years as a Policy Officer in the unit “Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials” of DG GROWTH, where he was in charge of the Raw Materials part under Horizon 2020-Societal Challenge 5.
Before joining the European Commission in end 2013, Manuel worked for almost fifteen years as a researcher in the field of thermo-mechanical processing of high strength steels in the National Centre for Metallurgical Research (CENIM-CSIC) in Madrid, Spain. Between 2005 and 2007, he was a Fulbright Post-doctoral fellow in the University of Pittsburgh (USA). Manuel Gómez Herrero is Mining Engineer and PhD in Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
