
Mary Anne O’CONNELL

Mary O’ Connell did her undergraduate at University College Galway, followed by a PhD at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York. Her first postdoctoral work was at MIT with Prof. Nancy Hopkins. She then went to the laboratory of Prof. Walter Keller at the Biozentrum in Basel where she purified and cloned ADAR1 and ADAR2. She was a Group Leader at the MRC Human Genetics Unit, Edinburgh from 1997-2013. She did a sabbatical at Stockholm University for 18 months and from November 2014, she has been ERA Chair at CEITEC, Masaryk University, Czech Republic. She was elected EMBO member in 2017.
