Nicolae HURDUC was born in Iasi on 28 May 1956. He graduated at ”Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iasi in 1980 and holds a degree in chemical engineering. He started his professional activity working for Company of Synthetic Fibers in Iasi for four years. With a strong passion for research and education, he moved for a period of two years at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry «Petru Poni». Since 1986, Mr. Hurduc joined «Gheorghe Asachi» Technical University of Iasi initially as a researcher, then as professor of Polymer Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry and Molecular Modelling within the Department of Natural and Synthetic Polymers.
He was vice-Dean (2008-2016) and Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Environmental Protection (2016-2020) at the same University. Prof. Hurduc is the (co)author of more than 172 scientific articles with 1300 citations (Hirsh Index: 20), 7 books , multiple specialized chapters as well as 6 patents (out of which 2 in France).
He was involved in several cooperation partnerships both at European level as well as international (USA, Japan and Australia) and is a member of Royal Society of Chemistry, (UK), International Liquid Crystal Society, ALFRED KASTLER Foundation (FR), Romanian Society of Rheology.
Mr. Nicolae HURDUC is also reviewer for several prestigious scientific journals.
Mr. HURDUC was appointed as a minister of research and innovation on 26 October 2018. Member of the Romanian Government. He is a member of Social-Democratic Party, Iasi branch.
